JAMMU, Mar 17: Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh, has sanctioned a total of Rs 20.26 lakh for the welfare of police personnel and their families.
This includes Rs 15.11 lakh for the reimbursement of educational expenses of 35 wards of police martyrs, and Rs 5.15 lakh as scholarships for 103 wards of serving or retired police personnel. The reimbursement covers tuition fees, transportation charges, books/stationery, and uniforms for the academic sessions of 2019-20, 2020-21, and 2021-22.
The DGP also granted scholarships of Rs 4.88 lakh to 100 meritorious wards of serving police personnel who excelled in their Class 10th annual examination during the academic session of 2021-2022.
This includes Rs 6,000 each for 44 wards who scored 90% and above, and Rs 4,000 each for 56 wards who scored 80% and above. Additionally, three wards of retired police personnel who secured more than 80% marks in Class 12th annual examination and post-graduation examinations were also granted scholarships.
The funds for these scholarships and reimbursements were taken from the Central Police Welfare Fund, which the Police Headquarters uses to provide different welfare schemes for police personnel and their families.
