SRINAGAR, July 26: Continuing with its endeavour to provide financial assistance to the families of martyred/deceased police personnel, the Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh today sanctioned Rs. 80 lakh as Special Welfare Relief and over Rs. 55 lakh as ex-gratia relief in favour of dependents of martyred/deceased cops.
A handout stated that the DGP sanctioned Rs. 38 lakh ex-gratia relief in favour of NoKs of Constable Suhail Mushtaq Lohar who attained martyrdom in a terrorist attack at Bhagat Chowk Srinagar while Rs. 17.50 lakh ex-gratia relief has been sanctioned in favour of legal heirs of martyred SPO Shabaz Ahmad who attained martyrdom during an encounter with terrorists at Zantrag Khrew.
Special Welfare Relief of Rs. 20 lakh each has been sanctioned to dependents of deceased ASI Qiyam-ud-Din Khatana, HCs Lal Hussain, Muzaffar Ahmad SgCt. Sudesh Kumari and follower Sanjeev Kumar who expired during service due to health-related issues.
Rs. 5 lakh has also been sanctioned in favour of NoKs of deceased SPO Man Singh who expired due to illness during his engagement with the department.
Out of this Special Welfare Relief, Rs. one lakh each was already paid to the NoKs of deceased cops for performing their last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units.
The financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Police Welfare Fund.
