SRINAGAR, June 15: The Director General of Police, J&K, Dilbag Singh, has sanctioned over Rs 1.97 crore under various welfare measures for the police personnel and SPOs.
This includes a welfare loan of over Rs 1.17 crore for 85 serving police personnel and special welfare relief for the Next of Kin (NoK) of four deceased police personnel/SPOs.
As per a press statement, eleven police personnel have been granted Rs 1.5 lakh each for the marriage of their sons and daughters, while fourteen police personnel have received Rs 1 lakh each for their own marriages.
Additionally, fifty-nine police personnel have been provided welfare loans ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh for self-treatment and treatment of their dependents.
Furthermore, twenty-one police personnel have been given welfare relief ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000 for self-treatment and treatment of their dependents. One police personnel has been sanctioned a welfare loan of Rs 1.5 lakh for the professional education of his ward.
In addition to these measures, special welfare relief of Rs 22 lakh each has been granted to the NoK of HCs Abdul Qayoom and Dalip Kumar, as well as Selection Grade Constable Jasbir Singh. The NoK of deceased SPO Mohammad Arif has been given a welfare relief of Rs 6 lakh.
Furthermore, a welfare/parting gift of Rs 40,000 each has been sanctioned to 20 SPOs who were disengaged from service upon reaching the age of sixty. This gift is a token of appreciation for their services to the department and is provided from the SPOs Contributory Welfare Fund.
The welfare loans provided to police personnel are refundable and are recovered through monthly instalments deducted from their salaries, without any interest. The funds for these measures have been sourced from the Central Police Welfare Fund (CPWF).
