JAMMU, Nov 22: Director General of Police (DGP) K. Rajendra Kumar today reviewed the law and order and security related issues of twin districts of Poonch-Rajouri in two separate meetings held at Poonch and Rajouri today.
While interacting with the officers and cops in these districts, Rajendra stressed the need for greater synergy among all stake holders to serve the people in a better way. He said that service to the people is sole motto of the police force and congenial atmosphere is necessary for ensuring justice to the common masses.
Saying that security of the people is our prime concern for which we have to ensure peace and order in the State he said that all nefarious designs of law breakers need to be curbed strictly. While dealing with any situation, it has to be ensured that common masses do not face any inconvenience in their routine affairs, he added.
The DGP emphasised that a continuous vigil needs to be maintained in border areas, taking the people into confidence, to curb the activities of anti-national elements and criminals. “Our fight against terrorism would continue and for this purpose strenuous efforts have to be made, besides adopting the latest techniques of crime detection and investigation”, he observed.
Rajendra also addressed police darbars in the twin districts and exhorted the cops to perform selflessly within the ambit of law of land. He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police since its inception has remained on forefront in providing better service to the people, and with the changing global scenario its responsibilities have enhanced manifold.
Besides providing security and peace to the people, it has to deal with the social evils which have affected our youth and society.
Referring the welfare of jawans, the DGP maintained that PHQ have been implementing various welfare schemes to benefit the police personnel and their families and the families of martyrs. He disclosed that during the past 10 months, more than Rs. 17 crore were disbursed to the families of martyrs under various welfare schemes.
The DGP was accompanied by IGP Jammu Zone, Danish Rana, DIG, Poonch-Rajouri Range, Johny William, SSPs, M. Sulaiman Choudhary and Jatinder Singh Johar.
