Justice Mir asks DLSA to reach out to fire sufferers

JAMMU, Nov 22: Executive Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir State Legal Services Authority (JKSLSA), Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir has asked the Chairperson of District Legal Services Authority Srinagar (DLSA) (Principal District  & Sessions Judge) to constitute a core group headed by a judicial officer  in terms of “Scheme for Legal Services to Disaster Victims through Legal Services Authorities” to coordinate with district administration Srinagar for timely evacuation of fire victims to the temporary shelters/relief camps opened in the affected areas.
According to a statement issued by R N Watal, Member Secretary JKSLSA,  the District Legal Services Authority Srinagar has also been asked to ensure smooth distribution of relief material to the victims, assess the damage caused to the life and property of the victims so that the cases for disbursement of relief are processed expeditiously by District Administration, open temporary Legal Aid Clinics in the relief camps manned by Para  Legal Volunteers to hear the grievances of the victims and forward the same to the district administration for their redress.
Chairman DLSA Srinagar has also been asked to submit the consolidated report to the State Authority for further course of action.
