DGP reviews security scenario, arrangements for I-Day

JAMMU, Aug 10: In order to review the overall security scenario and arrangements for Independence Day (ID) celebrations in Jammu Province, the Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar, chaired senior police officers’ meeting of Jammu Zone, held at Police Control Room (PCR) here today.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Rajendra stressed upon all the officers that proper briefing be given to the officers and subordinate staff to be deployed for maintaining law and order and ID duties in view of the recent violent acts in District Udhampur.
He stressed upon the participants for effective and co-ordinated efforts be made at gross root level. He said that adequate security arrangements be made at all the venues of ID functions in the Province including main function, which is being held at Parade Ground.
During the meeting, Mr. Rajendra directed all the concerned Range DIGs and District SSPs to remain alert in their respective jurisdictions and ensure security of all vital installations, religious places, minority pockets and Police and PMF establishments.
DGP stressed upon all the officers that proper co-ordination be maintained among all the intelligence agencies, Army, PMF, Traffic and Security Wing in their respective districts for smooth and incident free conduct of national level event throughout the province.
Mr. Rajendra also directed SSP Traffic Jammu and all District SSPs to ensure strict enforcement of Motor Vehicle Act particularly against two-wheelers, who drive vehicles without helmets.  He further directed SSP Traffic to start a traffic week immediately to create awareness among the general public.
The meeting was attended by IGPs, Yoginder Koul and Danesh Rana, DIGs, Surinder Gupta,  AK Atri, Ashkoor Ahmed Wani and Nisar Ahmed, SSPs, Varinder Sharma, MS Choudhary, Sujit Kumar, Neva Jain, Sham Sunder, Ashok Kumar, Ramesh Angral, Mohan Lal, ZN Manhas, Dr. Haseeb Mughal, JS Jahor, Randeep Kumar,  Joginder Singh, Rajiv Pandey and  Yougal Manhas and other police officers.
