DGP reviews arrangements for RD celebrations, asks cops to remain vigilant

JAMMU, Jan 19: Arrangements for the Republic Day celebrations were reviewed at a high level meeting held at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today. Chaired by Director General of Police (DGP), Dr. S. P. Vaid, the meeting was attended by senior officers from police, central para-military forces, intelligence agencies and civil administration.
Dr. Vaid, at the outset of the meeting, sought reports from the concerned officers regarding the arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of State Level function being held at Jammu. Officers representing different agencies through power point presentation informed the meeting that a comprehensive security plan has been chalked out in coordination with other departments and agencies to make coordinated efforts for the smooth conduct of the celebrations in winter capital and others districts of Jammu Province.
DGP impressed upon all officers to work with good synergy and make all required security arrangements, besides maintaining vigil in all cities and towns to thwart any effort by the anti-national elements which could disrupt the peaceful atmosphere.
He said that night patrolling in the border areas and naka checking should be conducted to curb the activities of bad elements. Random checking of vehicles should be got done besides, efficient police bandbust in and around the venues of  celebrations to ensure security, law and order during the celebrations. Deployment at busy places including bus stands, railway stations and religious places needs to be enhanced to ensure fool proof security.
DGP stressed for better traffic arrangement in the major cities and towns in order to avoid inconvenience to the common masses participating in the celebrations. Parking slots should be identified, notified well in advance for awareness of commoners, said the DGP.
Earlier, IGP CID, A. G. Mir briefed the meeting about the intelligence gathering with regard to anti-national activities. He said that input sharing is must to take necessary precautions for making the efforts result oriented. IGP Jammu Zone, Danesh Rana briefed the meeting about the deployment plan made for the conduct of RD celebrations in the Zone in a secure and befitting manner.
The meeting was attended by ADGP Security, Dilbag Singh, IGPs, MS Salaria, Yoginder Koul and SA Watali, Surinder Kumar Gupta, DIGs, Alok Kumar and AA Wani, Deputy Commissioner, Simrandeep Singh, SSPs, Sunil Kumar, AK Angral, Rajinder Gupta,  Rohit Sharma, Ashok Sharma, Ashok Kumar and all district Superintendent of Police.
