JAMMU, Feb 12: Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh today released Punjabi translation of senior Police officer Danesh Rana’s book “Red Maize” at PHQ in presence of ADGs AK Choudhary, SJM Gillani, AG Mir, IGP (Hqrs) PHQ Garib Dass, eminent Punjabi literally figure and retired bureaucrat Khalid Hussain, SO to IGP Armed Jammu Sanjay Kotwal and AIG (Welfare/Comm) PHQ Manoj Pandit.
The book “Red Maize” was published in 2015 by Harper Collins India and was awarded Tata Literature Live First Book Award in-fiction at a ceremony held in Mumbai. This ceremony was attended by literally stalwarts from around the world.
The Punjabi translation has been done by Dr Randeer Kour Assistant Prof Punjabi Literature. The Punjabi translation has been published by Chetaniya Prakashan, Ludhiana.
This book is a tale of resilience of the silent sufferers of the conflict and the valour of those who stood up to the onslaught of guns and terror. The author (Danesh Rana) has expressed thanks to uniformed personnel who sacrificed their lives, fighting bravery against militants with special thanks to SPOs who defended their land and people against all odds and often emerged victorious.
He has also expressed gratitude to Khalid Hussain the driving force, flag bearer, the cheer leader and the champion behind the translation. Rana has also expressed his thanks to Manmohan, prolific writer in Punjabi and a senior IPS officer for his unflinching support & encouragement, Swami Antar Neerav, a Punjabi poet of great repute and Dr Kamaldeep.
