DGP provides financial aid to families of martyr, deceased police personnel

JAMMU, Feb 13: In a compassionate move aimed at supporting the families of police personnel and Special Police Officers (SPOs), the Director General of Police for Jammu and Kashmir, RR Swain, has approved disbursements totalling Rs 3.14 crore. This assistance extends to seventeen families of martyred or deceased Police personnel/SPOs.
Additionally, financial relief amounting to Rs 4.25 lakh has been sanctioned for five SPOs whose residences were damaged in various accidental incidents or natural disasters.
In a gesture of solidarity and recognition, special welfare relief of Rs 22 lakh each has been granted to the next of kin (NoK) of Inspector Masroor Ali Wani and the deceased ASIs and Head Constables. Further, Rs 10 lakh has been sanctioned for the family of deceased R/Ct Rohit Sharma.
Moreover, Rs 6 lakh each has been allocated to the families of SPOs who passed away during their tenure with the J&K Police organization, underscoring the commitment to supporting those who serve.
It is noteworthy that Rs 1 lakh each has already been disbursed to the families of deceased police personnel and Rs 50,000 to the families of deceased SPOs to assist with funeral expenses.
In another significant development, the DGP has sanctioned financial aid of Rs 1 lakh each for SPOs Nazir Ahmad, Irshad Ahmad, and Man Singh, and Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 for SPOs Shiraz Ahmad and Suresh Kumar, respectively, whose residences were affected by unforeseen circumstances.
