DGP, others pay tributes to martyr in Kashmir

 

SRINAGAR: The Director General of Police (DGP) led the officers and other ranks to pay tributes to constable Mohammad Shafi, who made the supreme sacrifice in an encounter with militants in north Kashmir district of Baramulla today.

A police spokesman said here this evening that a wreath lying ceremony was held in District Police Lines (DPL) Srinagar, where floral tributes were paid to Shafi, who attained martyrdom at Marval Zaloora area of Sopore.

DGP K Rajendra Kumar led the officers and Jawans in the wreath laying ceremony which was attended among others by Special DG law and order and coordination S P Vaid, IGP Armed and IRP  Sunil Kumar, Divisional Commissioner  Baseer Ahmad Khan and other senior civil and police officers.

The body was later handed over to his next of kins for the last rites. The martyr is survived by wife, three brothers, two of whom are studying, and aged parents. (AGENCIES)
