DGP for joint efforts to maintain peace

SRINAGAR, Dec 1: Director General of Police (DGP), K Rajendra Kumar today underscored the need for greater synergy among security agencies to maintain peace and order in the State. He said that peace is imperative for over all development and the agencies involved in maintaining rule of law have a major role to lead the State towards prosperity.
Rajendra was chairing a high level meeting of Police, CRPF and Civil officers at Police Control Room (PCR) here this evening. Special Director General of Police, Coordination/ Law and Order, Dr. S. P. Vaid and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir were also present in the meeting.
The meeting deliberated on various issues relating to the law and order situation in the Valley. Officers representing different agencies briefed the meeting about the measures undertaken on different fronts to maintain peace and order in the Valley.
Addressing the meeting, Rajendra expressed his satisfaction on the arrangements put in place for maintaining public order. He said that joint efforts of the agencies have resulted in bringing the situation under control, which resulted in smooth conduct of examinations. He said that a sense of security has been instilled in the minds of people and normal activities are returning back.
DGP emphasised upon the officers present in the meeting to adopt an effective strategy and foil the ill designs of inimical elements, who are desperate and do not want peaceful atmosphere in the State. Pragmatic approach with maximum restraint is must to gain people’s cooperation and the forces involved in the maintenance of law and order needs to be briefed at all levels to adopt the SOP while dealing with the situations.
Special DG Coordination/Law and Order, Dr. SP Vaid, who is camping in the Valley, briefed the meeting about the present law and order scenario in the province. He said that coordination among the agencies has been revamped which has yielded good results.
The meeting was also attended by IGP Kashmir, SJM Gillani, IG Armed Kashmir, Sunil Kumar, IG CRPF Kashmir, DIG CKR, GH Bhat, SSP, Srinagar, Amit Kumar, SSP PCR, Suhail Munawer Mir, SO to IGP Kashmir, Showkat Hussain and other police officers.
