SRINAGAR, Aug 13: Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir, RR Swain, today inaugurated a new Police Post in Chandanwari area of Pahalgam in South Kashmir.
The inauguration was marked by a ceremony where DGP Swain, alongside senior officers, planted saplings in honour of the police martyrs.
Accompanied by ADGP Headquarters, PHQ/Security, J&K, MK Sinha, ADGP Law and Order, J&K, Vijay Kumar, and IGP Kashmir VK Birdi, DGP Swain was welcomed by DIG CID Kashmir Sujit Kumar, DIG South Kashmir Range Javaid Iqbal Matoo, SSP Anantnag Dr G V Sundeep Chakravarthy, and other local officers.
Following the inauguration, the DGP inspected the new police post’s facilities, which are aimed at improving infrastructure and providing better amenities for police personnel. The new post is expected to bolster law enforcement and enhance community safety in the region.
In a symbolic gesture, DGP Swain and the senior officers planted saplings under the ‘Ek Ped Shaheedon Ke Naam’ campaign, dedicating them to fallen heroes: Martyr SI Mohammad Amin Magloo, Martyr SgCt Ghulam Rasool Bhat, Martyr Constable Mohammad Amin Shah, Martyr Constable Ali Mohammad Najar, Martyr Constable Bashir Ahmed Wani, and Martyr Constable Irshad Ahmad Sheikh.
This initiative not only honoured the sacrifices of the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s brave personnel but also promoted the environmental awareness and patriotism among the community.
