DG Prisons reviews jail security

Jammu, May 18: Director General of Prisons, J&K K Rajindra Kumar alongwith other senior officers of the Police and Civil Administration who formed part of review committee of the Government made a visit in District Jail Jammu to review the security scenario. He was accompanied by IGP Jammu, Rajesh Kumar, District Magistrate Jammu Ajeet Kumar Sahu and I/c Sr Superintendent of Police, Jammu Rajeshwar Singh.
The meeting was aimed at holding a detailed review of the situation and take steps to ensure that the incidents like the killing of Sanaulla, a Pakistani prisoner in Kot Bhalwal Jail may not be occurred in any other Jail furture. Security surveillance, strenght of the staff and all other steps required for the Jail came up for review at the high level meeting. He called upon the Prisons Staff to maintain high alert in the Jail.
At the same time, prisoners should be given conducive atmoshphere in the Jail. They should be provided all the facilities as per the Jail munual. Mr Rajindra interacted with prisoners as well as staff of the Jail. He visited all the Blocks of the Jail including Female Block, Kitchen Block, Adult Literacy Centre, Library section, Hospital Block and other Blocks. He also visited Foregion/ Pak Barrack and interacted with the inmates and directed the Jail officials to take spacial care of the inmates.
