SRINAGAR, Aug 3: Director General, J&K Institute of Management, Public Administration & Rural Development (JKIMPARD), Saurabh Bhagat today chaired the inaugural function of three days training programme on ‘Implementation of Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955 and SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 in J&K’ at Main Campus, MA Road, here.
Prof. Sukumar from Delhi University, (a well-known social activist for Dalit Rights), Dr. Jahan Ara Jabeen, Director Trainings, IMPARD, representatives from Advisory Board for the Welfare and Development of Schedule Castes in J&K, various officer trainees and other concerned were also present during the inaugural function.
Speaking on the occasion, DG IMPARD, highlighted the importance of implementation of Civil Rights Act in J&K and impressed upon the officers to work for the weaker sections of the society as they need most welfare interventions for their upliftment. He thanked the Advisory Board for the Welfare and Development of Schedule Castes in J&K for sponsoring the series of programmes on the subject.
The DG also remarked about the role of common people and officers for facilitation and solution of their issues and problems.
While speaking on the occasion, Prof. Sukumar advised the officers to be more sensitive to the issues and challenges of schedule castes and schedule tribes and try to implement the Protection of Civil Rights Act and SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act in J&K in letter and spirit.
Training Course coordinator Dr Bilal A. Bhat, in his speech highlighted about the importance of these Acts which have been extended to J&K from 2019 for the benefit of SCs and STs.
