JAMMU, Mar 17: Drugs and Food Control Organization (DFCO) conducted inspection of various drug manufacturing units in Jammu and Samba Districts.
The exercise was undertaken by Inspectorate Staff of the Organization to prevent further use of 337 Fixed Dose Combinations (FDCs) banned by the Central Government through various notifications issued recently.
A total of 80 establishments were inspected by the Enforcement Staff and during the inspections instructions were issued to the licensees to stop further sale of FDCs forthwith and take appropriate measures to affect product recall from peripheral drug sales outlets.
Drugs worth Rs 1.5 crore belonging to various leading manufacturers were stopped from further sale/use. Certain brands being manufactured by lesser known manufacturing units have also been identified by the inspecting authorities and steps are being taken to stop their further use by the end users.
The inspecting teams have also observed that responsible manufacturers have already undertaken product recall exercise in compliance to the Provisions of Rule 78 of Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
Meanwhile, in district Samba, a separate exercise was undertaken wherein Licensing Authority has cancelled Licences of fifteen drugs sales establishments viz M/s Jai Bawa Medical stores, Rakh Kangwala, M/s Dhotra Medical Hall, Tarore, M/s Shiva Medicos, Panjtilla, M/s Prahari Medicos, Samba, M/s Sharma Medical hall, Bari Brahmana, M/s Dutta Medicos, SIDCO Colony, Samba, M/s Shiv Durge Pharmacy, Bari Brahmana, M/s Narsingh Medicos, Ghagwal, Samba, M/s Honey Medical Hall, Samba, M/s SPRS Medicate, Supwal, M/s Sachin Medical Hall, Sarore, M/s Shiva Pharmacy Bari Brahmana and M/s Atul Medical Hall, Tarore for contravening various provisions of Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and rules there-under after following the procedure of the Act.
