Devise mechanism to reduce power cuts: Sunil to PDD

JAMMU, May 4: Minister for Power Development Sunil Kumar Sharma convened an introductory meeting of the department to review works to be undertaken regarding the power supply needs of the State during summer season.
During the meeting, the Minister was apprised of power supply scenario in Jammu division especially in Jammu, Samba and Kathua that needed adequate power supply during summer season. Complete data regarding planning, projects, central and State sponsored schemes was laid before the Minister.
Sunil Sharma stressed upon the department to ensure adequate power supply in Jammu region during summer months when the demand for power is at its peak in all sectors. Within a stipulated period of time we have to work out to tackle the situation, he added.
He directed the engineers to identify the critical areas and devise a mechanism to reduce scheduled power cuts and avoid unscheduled curtailments.
Minister directed the department to prepare a concrete plan within two days having complete data of installed capacity, requirement and current preparedness.
It was decided in the meeting to constitute a “Quick Reaction Team” initially for Jammu which will immediately respond to the complaints regarding any kind of problem being faced by the consumers. In addition to this a special number will be circulated to the general public which will be directly responded by the Minister for grievance redressal.
