JAMMU, Sept 4: Asserting that development has been going on in Jammu and Kashmir in true letter and spirit post Articles 370 and 35-A abrogation, former Minister and senior BJP leader Bali Bhagat has said that development visible on ground undoubtedly reflect the concern and focus of Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this Union Territory and its people.
He stated this while addressing a gathering during a programme organized by the newly elected ‘Market Association’ at JK Colony, Ward number 59 of Paloura in presence of former MP, Shamsher Singh Manhas and senior BJP leader Joginder Singh Chib, who also addressed the gathering.
Highlighting the achievements viz-a-viz developmental works in Jammu, Bali Bhagat welcomed the six lanning of national highway between Kunjwani and Vijaypur, expansion of Jammu Airport, establishment of IIM, IIT, AIIMS, medical colleges and last but not the least construction of tunnels across J&K that have ensured all weather road connectivity.
Further elaborating upon the projects that stand testimony to unprecedented development today, Bali Bhagat cited the examples of Jammu City Smart Project costing Rs 3637.71 crore, Jammu Ring Road Projected costing Rs 1339 crore inaugurated by LG Manoj Sinha on Friday, Metro rail projects in Srinagar and Jammu estimated to cost Rs 10,559 crore, besides a number of railway and highway tunnels.
In the healthcare sector the senior BJP leader highlighted the Rs 120 crore worth Cancer institutes (one each at Jammu and Srinagar), 300 bedded Bone and Joint hospital estimated to cost Rs 41 crore, 275 bedded new maternity block at SMGS hospital worth Rs 31.50 crore, besides oxygen plants in all the district hospitals of this Union Territory.
He said it is the first time in the history of J&K that 70 Union Ministers will soon be visiting this Union Territory to take stock of development and progress of this region terming it as unprecedented development in J&K, he said that this shows that Centre is focusing on J&K as its top priority.
