JAMMU, Apr 30: Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta today said that Government was keen to develop socio-economic status of people living in backward areas, adding that comprehensive plans are being formulated for enhancing their living standard.
The Speaker said this during his whirlwind tour to Sunjwan, Chatta and other areas of Gandhi Nagar constituency.
While addressing the public, Kavinder Gupta said that futuristic, holistic and inclusive infrastructural development of all the regions of the state is high on agenda of the present Coalition Government which could not be achieved during past few decades.
Mr. Gupta vowed to keep his commitment of meeting developmental aspirations of the people of his constituency with best of his capabilities. He said that all out efforts would be made to develop Gandhi Nagar constituency as model constituency. He said that a large number of development projects in key sectors like road connectivity, education, health, rural development are in pipeline.
The people of Chatta demanded construction of links from Chatta to Sandhi, Bathindi to Ratti Sarai via Bermini, Chatta to Done Mohalla Sunjwan, Batala to Nikki Sunjwan, Old Shiv Temple Sunjwan to Bemini via Talab, Chatta to Gurha via Shambran, Chatta Mohalla to Brahmana Mohalla and foot bridge at Chatta. They also demanded laying of crates along local nallah to prevent overflowing of its water.
The villagers also demanded adequate supply of ration, staff at Government schools and Anganwadi centres etc.
The Speaker said that the road projects of these areas have already been send to NABARD for funding and a foot bridge at Chatta would be constructed soon after completing all formalities. He said on its completion it would benefit over 1000 population of the area.
Mr. Gupta asked the locals to constitute a committee to fix the priorities of development works in their respective areas and personally monitor the development works as they are eyes and ears of the Government.
