JAMMU, May 15: A design awareness seminar for brick manufacturing cluster of Jammu was organized jointly by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry and National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, here today.
Design clinic scheme for MSMEs is a scheme by Ministry of MSME, Govt of India under National Manufa-cturing Competitiveness Programme for Promotion of Design for MSMEs. It’s an initiative of National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad (NID).
The design awareness seminar, organized for the brick manufacturing cluster, was aimed for understanding the importance of design for improving products, processes, communication and many important aspects of business.
Abdul Rashid, Director, Department of Industry and Commerce, Jammu, was the chief guest in the seminar. He encouraged the participants to adopt innovation and new technologies so that the MSMEs operating in the State can run their business in a more profitable and sustainable manner.
Vikram Gupta, General Manager, SIDCO, Jammu, appreciated PHD Chamber and NID for taking the initiative of organizing the seminar with an objective to improve the competitiveness and efficiency of the brick cluster in Jammu.
Prof L K Das from IIT Delhi gave a detailed presentation about the evolution of design process and how one can benefit from it. Two other distinguished speakers in the seminar, were Ajay Singh, president, Naldehra Building Centre & Vice President (R & D), All India Brick and Tile Mills Federation and Rajesh Singhla, Director, Brick Technologies India, Ludhiana.
Earlier, while presenting the welcome address, Vikrant Kuthiala, Chairman, PHD Chamber, J & K Committee, said that with growing access to better technology, industries are increasing their competitiveness at equal price and functionality.
Jugal Mahajan, President Brick Kiln Owner’s Association Jammu also addressed the gathering.
The seminar was attended by around 40 members from the Brick Kiln Owner’s Association.
