DC reviews functioning of District Hospital Reasi

REASI, May 15: Deputy Commissioner Reasi today visited the new District Hospital to take a review of its functioning.
It was apprised that the new hospital building was constructed in the year 2010 but was recently shifted because of the initiative of the District Administration to provide the better health care facility to the general public of the district.
The old hospital building was situated in 2.5 kanals of the land and was in dilapidated condition besides having a narrow approach road which caused inconvenience to the patients, attendants as a result of traffic congestion.
Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Reasi apprised that the District Hospital is spread over 14 kanals of land and has adequate parking space, which can cater to all sorts of emergencies and heavy rush of patients.
The Deputy Commissioner was informed by the hospital authorities that during OPD hours, average 300 patients visit the District Hospital daily. Moreover, the approach road to the hospital has multiple linkages making it easily accessible for the people of the whole of the district.
The Deputy Commissioner was apprised that the new complex is having spacious labour room and adjoining stabilization unit for the new born babies, all adjacent to each other on the ground floor as a result which as against 50 to 60 deliveries conducted per month in old hospital, in the new complex in the last 20 days, 70 deliveries and 9 C-Sections have been conducted, which indicates that there is tremendous increase in Maternal & Child care facilities in the new building.
She was further apprised that 20 surgeries have been conducted in the last 20 days thereby indicating that at least one surgery is being conducted every day. The Medical Superintendent further apprised that the X-Ray machine installed in the new complex is of high resolution as compared to the X-Ray machine in the old hospital and can also run on Genset in case of power failure.
The Deputy Commissioner also took a round of the hospital complex and appreciated the efforts of the hospital administration in maintaining the proper hygiene in the wards, operation theaters and toilet blocks. She directed that the plantation of the trees around the complex shall also be got done so as to give the whole area environmental friendly look.
The Chief Medical Officer Reasi apprised the Deputy Commissioner that ANMT school near the new district hospital building is also coming up and the new hospital building, because of its adjacent location would be of help to the students to undergo practical training.
