Deptt of Commerce in JU organizes management development program

JAMMU, Sept 15: PG Department of Commerce, University of Jammu, in collaboration with Anutham Hotel and Amantran Farm, organised Management Development Program on “Building Leadership Skill”.
The event was sponsored by “Yokohama India Pvt Ltd, Gupta Tyre House, Jammu”. Management Development Program was initiated by the Department under the mentorship of Vice-Chancellor Prof Umesh Rai, who urged to take a proactive step towards enhancing learning experience by taking it directly to the field.
Dr Rinku Sanjeev, Corporate Trainer, Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies, Noida, was the Resource Person for the MDP.
In the inaugural function, Prof Hardeep Chahal, Coordinator for the event, stressed that such MDPs help in the holistic development of the managers by building their skill sets.
Dr Jeevan Jyoti, Head of the Department, threw light on relevance of building leadership skills in the era of rapid change and unprecedented challenges. She also highlighted the role of effective leadership in an organisation and how leadership is a cornerstone upon which success and growth are built.
Dr Rinku Sanjeev later proceeded with the sessions and focused on leading self. Session II engrossed the participants towards leading downwards while in the third session, Dr Rinku indulged in explaining ethics, culture and change management. Dr Rinku conducted various hands-on-sessions like ‘mobile exchange’, ‘tower ka power’ and various behavioural exercises to enhance the observation capacity and other skill-sets of the participants.
The sessions aimed at understanding self; managing self; managing relationships with others and leading with social skills. The outcomes of the event focused on pillars to improve personal effectiveness to build self for better productivity. Managers thoroughly participated and learnt along with fun element of the exercises carried by the resource person.
The event was attended by Prof Neetu Andotra, Dr Tarsem Lal, Dr Jyoti Sharma, Dr Sunil Kumar, Dr Rupa Mahajan, Dr Vishal Gupta, Dr Sumeet Kour and Dr Deepti Abrol while the proceedings of the session were conducted by Dr Harleen, Deputy Coordinator of the event.
