Srinagar, May 7: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) today said that it demolished 80 illegal constructions across Srinagar city in March and April this year.
SMC said that its enforcement wing headed by Suhail Nabi Chintsaz swings into action on daily basis and conducts regular site visits while the concerned ward officers along with their teams regularly conduct inspections in their respective wards
“On identifying the structures coming up without permissions or the deviations found in sanctioned building plans, the Enforcement team along with the concerned ward officer visits the sites for demolition,” SMC said.
It said that the structures in the two months have been demolished in Lal Bazar Botshah Mohalla, Pinchi Mandi near the RTO office, Ghalib Abad Shalteng, Maloora, Khumani Chowk, Gogo, Jawahar Nagar, Lal Bazar Umar Colony B Qamarabad, Palporaa, Near Motor Garage Bemina & Airport, Press Enclave, Nowpora & Moomin Abad opposite lower court, Balgarden Exchange road and Rajbagh.
Besides this, SMC said, anti-encroachment drives are being regularly held under the supervision of Chief Anti Encroachment Officer Mudasir Banday.
It said that the Anti-Encroachment teams have been divided and placed zone wise for continuous drives to be held in all the areas of the city, particularly in market areas and other busy commercial activity places.
