JAMMU, May 7: The University of Jammu Gatka women team won the second position in the All India Inter-University Gakta (W) Championship 2021-22, being organized by the Sant Baba Bagh Singh University Jallandhar, Punjab.
The Gatka women team won four silver medals for the University of Jammu, one each of the Fari Soti Free Style Team event, Fari Soti Full Strike Team event, Single Soti Full Strike Team event and Single Soti Full Strike Individual event.
The three bronze medals, one each of the Single Soti Free Style Team event, Single Soti Free Style Individual event and Fari Soti Full Strike Individual event were won by the University team.
The overall All India Inter-University Gatka (W) Championship registered win over Punjabi University Patiala and remained second.
The JU Gatka women team comprises Taran Deep Kour, Alka Sharma, Nishtha Kour, Shivanshi Arora, Tanveer Kour, Amulya Singh, Shilpa Langeh and Bhumika Sharma.
Love Preet Singh and Simran Deep Kour are accompanying the University of Jammu Gatka (M&W) team as coach and manager respectively.
