NEW DELHI, Nov 13: The site and plan for the first- ever “North East Convention Centre” (NECC) for Delhi has been finalized and the construction work will begin soon after the completion of procedural formalities over the coming weeks.
Disclosing this after a visit to the site for the proposed Centre at Sector 13, Dwarka, New Delhi, Union Minister for Development of North East Region (DoNER), Dr Jitendra Singh said that this was a follow up to the announcement made by him earlier, soon after the second term of the Modi government began, that the North East Council (NEC) affiliated with the Ministry of DoNER will bring up an exclusive state-of-the-art facility , which would not only give exclusive presence and identity to the North East in the union capital but would also serve as a 24x7x365 full time Convention and Cultural Centre representing North East, while at the same time catering to the global parameters of contemporary times.
Spread over an area of 1.32 Acre (5359 Square Meter) and situated at a prime location adjacent to ISKCON temple on the one side and Hotel Radisson Blu on the other side, the important highlight of the new complex would be a 1,000 seater modern auditorium set up in a multi-storeyed complex with a glittering projection accompanied by attractive light display in the evening hours.
Beside the auditorium, the other attributes of the North East Convention Centre (NECC) would include a Seminar room, Banquet hall, library, museum, handloom display area, exhibition space and Food Court. In addition, there will be provision for executive Suites, guest rooms, dormitory and car parking area in the basement.
