JAMMU, Aug 17: A delegation of Association of Micro and Small Industries led by its president Harbinder Singh met Anoo Malhotra, Director Industries and raised concerns of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) of the State.
Stating that MSMEs require the least investment but create a huge employment at the same time and provide helping hand to the national priorities of employment, removing poverty and regional imbalances, Harbinder Singh f requested the Director industries to allot land to the local budding entrepreneurs at a concessional rate of Rs 2 Lakh/ Kanal upto 2 Kanal. He also requested that the State Government should look at developing Industrial Clusters in Jammu Region to support the Micro industry.
Singh further stated that State Government has announced in 2018-19 Budget an amnesty scheme for industrialists, small industries and sick industries to exempt them from interest, fines and sub charges by the PDD but the department is charging interest on interest and cutting electricity connection of Micro Industries and forcing many units to shut down or to become sick. He urged the Director that the demand charges and interest should be waived off to the Micro Industries.
He further appealed Anoo Malhotra to keep Micro Industry out of SARFAESI Act as according to Government of India, if due to any reason the micro industry is unable to sustain, the Government should look at supporting the Micro Industry rather than start penalizing the same.
Stating that there are several pending payments for material purchased by the Government departments, which have not been issued to the micro enterprises over the last 2-3 years due to which many micro industries suffer, the Association president urged the Director that payment should be issued to the micro enterprises at the earliest so that they do not suffer any more. He further said that Government should look at supporting the local micro industry by giving procurement preferences.
Anoo Malhotra gave a patience hearing to the delegation and assured that she shall look into their concerns.
