NAGROTA, Oct 25: National Conference Provincial President and MLA Nagrota Devender Singh Rana today described the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojna, a scheme envisaged to provide continuous power supply to rural areas, a non-starter, saying the PDP-BJP dispensation has failed to initiate even the preliminary process in this regard.
“Like every other scheme, the BJP has been creating much hype over development but on ground zero nothing is visible”, Rana said while addressing workers at Dansoo, Panwali,Bhatyari and Lower Kathar in Nagrota Assembly Constituency.
He said by not showing any inclination to implement the DDU Gram Jyoti Yojna, the present dispensation has negated and put into back burner the already existing rural electrification scheme, which may prove detrimental in achieving the objective of electrifying rural areas.
The MLA lambasted PDP-BJP Government for its inability to initiate the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojna in Jammu and Kashmir, saying this proves beyond doubt the incompetence and lack of bandwidth of the present dispensation to carry forward so-called developmental agenda in the state.
During his hectic day long tour, the MLA also took stock of the progress registered on the construction of houses taken up by Tata Trusts in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity India under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme for the poor in Shanoo and Dhansoo villages of Nagrota Assembly Constituency. He was told that the low cost housing units would be ready for occupancy in a month or so.
Rana expressed satisfaction on the pace of work and hoped that the beneficiaries will not only benefit from technology aimed at reducing the construction costs but also turn out as motivational factors for others to emulate. He said the success of any governmental scheme on housing front will succeed only when the homeless are incentivized in terms of financial assistance and support system related to health and hygiene.
Referring to the health sector, Rana said that Rs 22 lakh earmarked under a scheme will be used for upgrading Sub Centre, Bamyal as a New Type Public Health Centre (NTPHC). He said Sub Centres at Bain Bajalta, Panjowan and Sidhra have already been upgraded as NTPHC. He said a proposal envisaging Rs 60 lakh has already been mooted for upgradation and renovation of PHC Dansal.
He also reviewed the progress achieved under mega Quality Support progamme of Bharti Airtel in Govt Higher Secondary School, Kathar Manwal, which has been brought under. Anil Bhat, Project Head briefed about the progress registered so far.
He said that efforts are underway to renovate and repair the unsafe school buildings in the constituency.
