JAMMU, May 6: Government can still make amends by declaring Kashmiri Pandits as internally displaced people.
This was stated by Virender Raina, during a meeting of the Panun Kashmir, which was held here to deliberate upon the recent political development affecting the community.
While speaking, Virender Raina said that proposal to declare Kashmiri Pandits as internally displaced was first mooted by the National Human Rights Commission but Government intransigence in the matter and did not allow the said proposal to take shape.
The interlocutors report has been rejected by Panun Kashmir and there is no need to discuss it any further, he added.
The exodus of KPs from Kashmir is the largest single displacement of the population since partition, he said.
Prof ML Raina, Chairman, Political Affairs Committee, said that Tibet is the soft under belly of China. In case, China continues to bother us we must reopen the Tibet chapter.
Any change in these areas can negatively affect the nationalist population of J&K including Kashmiri Pandits. There is a need to keep close watch on our neighbourhood, he asserted.
Among others present were Upinder Koul, Kamal Bagati, Virender Koul, Vijay Qazi, Ramesh Koul, Sameer Bhatt and Ravi Punjabi.
