SRINAGAR, Apr 21: Debate and painting competitions for sensitization of students living around Dal Lake were organised at Vishwa Bharti Women’s College Rainawari here.
The programme was organised by Basix Social Enterprise Group in association with J&K RTI Movement and Environmentalist Foundation of India (EFI), in which students from Vishwa Bharti Higher Secondary School, Government Boys High School Rainawari and VB Women’s College participated in painting competition which was held in VB College yesterday.
A debate titled “How to Save Dal Lake” was organised at VB College today.
While speaking, DC Srinagar Farooq Ahmad Lone said that Government is making efforts for strengthening the sewer line so as to ensure sewerage does not enter the lake in different areas.
Social Activist Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat also spoke on the occasion.
DC Srinagar gave away trophies and certificates to students who excelled in the painting competition.
VB College Principal Prof Muzaffar, SDM Srinagar Hanif Balkhi, RTI Activist Dr Mushtaq Khan, Prof Rohfiza Qadri, Nusrat Jahan Ara and Advocate Tufail were also present on the occasion.
