Reasi, MAY 16: To ensure prompt redressal of public issues at the grassroots level, the District Development Commissioner Reasi Kumar Abhishek today convened a public outreach camp at Panchayat Panassa in block Thakrakote.
The camp witnessed active participation from locals, who projected a range of demands related to developmental requirements and public welfare.
The demands raised during the interaction included improvement of road connectivity to unconnected habitations, augmentation of drinking water and power supply, addressing staff shortages in schools, upgradation of educational infrastructure, development of playgrounds and strengthening of healthcare facilities in the area.
The residents also projected demand for inclusion of left-out beneficiaries under the PMAY, payment of pending land compensation, issuance of bus permits to improve transport facilities, opening of a bank branch in the area and several demands pertaining to tribal welfare and development.
The DDC accompanied by officers of various line departments, interacted with the public and listened patiently to their grievances and suggestions.
Several issues were resolved on the spot, while directions were issued to the concerned departments for disposal of pending matters within a stipulated time-frame.
Directions were also issued to the Assistant Commissioner Development for conducting Gram Sabhas to identify left-out beneficiaries under PMAY. The DDC further instructed that recovery proceedings be initiated against PMAY defaulters in accordance with the prescribed norms.
Later, the DDC visited Government Higher Secondary School Panassa and reviewed the academic environment and infrastructural facilities available in the institution. He also visited PHC Panassa to assess the healthcare services being provided to the local population. During the inspection, he reviewed the availability of medicines, medical staff and other essential healthcare arrangements at the health centre.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar; Chief Planning Officer Narinder Kumar; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Assistant Commissioner Development, Divisional Forest Officer, Chief Education Officer and other district and sectoral officers accompanied the DDC during the visit and review meetings.
