Udhampur, Aug 9: District Administration has initiated drive for enrollment of deserving individuals especially from the weaker sections of society and in far flung areas for enrollment under three major Social Security Schemes launched by the Prime Minister.
Due to lack of awareness and orientation for these schemes the enrollment did not pick up well which necessitated a mission to be launched for public awareness and participation for availing benefits, and making it compulsory for all the departments to initiate measures for reaching every household in the district.
District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, today reviewed the reasons for poor progress of enrollment and launched the mission for 100% coverage of all eligible beneficiaries in the district under three social security schemes viz Atal Pension Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Bhima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Suraksha Yojana. More than 35 departments and 15 leading banks have been assigned targets for reaching out to 1,15,000 households in the district for creating awareness and enrollment under these schemes which provide an opportunity to avail multiple benefits including pension, accident insurance, life insurance and other covers for the beneficiaries .
District has been divided into 17 Zones each headed by a senior officer and having team drawn from various departments and banks. Block Development Officers will be overall incharge for coordination with banks and departments to organise awareness camps in the district. A special drive has also been launched for enrollment of laborers for social security schemes across the district.
All the executing agencies will have to ensure on-spot enrollment of workers and completion of formalities for 90 days’ clause enabling provision of marriage assistance and compensation to laborers in case of injury or death.
The DDC directed the officers for spearheading the social security enrollment campaign at village level under a uniform pattern and ensure universal coverage. A special monitoring cell has been constituted headed by DSEO for daily updation of progress. Chief Planning Officer will be overall coordinator with Banks, Departments, PRIs and Non-Governmental agencies.
The launching programme for social security schemes was attended by Addl DC Angrez Singh Rana, CPO Rakesh Jamwal, ACR Rajiv Mangotra, ACD Dhanantar Singh, GM DIC Neelam Khajuria, Deputy Director Employment,CEO, DSEO, LDM, BDOs, ZEOs, block officers and heads of various banks and branch managers.
