REASI, Jan 12: District Development Commissioner Ravinder Kumar today convened a meeting with various stakeholders to discuss the draft Master Plan for holistic development of Reasi town.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Abdul Satar, Chief Town Planner Jammu Anil Raina, Executive Officer Reasi, District Forest Officer, Town Planning consultants, district officers, shopkeepers and prominent citizens of Reasi.
It was informed that the proposed draft has been divided into three parts and four phases for the period 2017 to 2035 to develop the town on modern lines.
The Consultants gave a power point presentation on the draft which was prepared after taking into account detailed survey of the existing infrastructure, road networks, business establishments, geographical attributes, demographic set up, tourist sites, forest cover, condition of the land and ongoing development activities in the town and adjoining areas.
The draft plan includes overall socio-economic development of area, exploration and preservation of tourist places, focusing water bodies, tourism along link roads for upcoming railway project and Chenab river besides creating buffer zones at Bhim Garh fort and Nallahs to put restriction on illegal construction and encroachments.
As per draft ,main focus has also been laid on de-congesting interior roots, strengthening parking facilities, shifting of main bus stand, widening of existing roads, constructing ring road, improving medical facilities, recreational avenues, solid waste management, creation of sewage treatment plant, Industrial growth, Junction improvements for Ganesh Chowk and market entrance.
DDC sought suggestions from all stakeholders and stressed on their active partaking in finalizing the proposed draft for holistic sustainable development of Reasi town. He assured that detailed deliberations shall be done on other aspects before finalizing the draft.
