DC visits border villages, reviews BADP works

LEH, Mar 9: Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Simrandeep Singh conducted two day tour of Turtuk, Tyakshi, Bogdang, Tongsted and Khemi villages at LoC in Nubra Sub Division to review the BADP works and conduct SVEEP camps in these border villages.
The important works for the forthcoming BADP plan were also discussed. People of these border villages urged the DC to ensure BADP funding to border villages strictly as per the guidelines of the scheme. The villagers also brought out the pending issues of ALC certificate for Turtuk area, visa for the people to visit their separated families in Pakistan occupied Kashmir and mobile towers for communication facility.
The people at the villages of Siachen base camp strongly demanded Radio and Doordarshan communication to remain aware of various national and local news.
Later, DC being the District Election Officer urged the people to come forward to vote in the coming Lok Sabha elections. He laid stress on the importance of vote, particularly for the border people.
The DC was accompanied by Zahida Bano, ACD, Leh and local officers from Nubra.
