DC Udhampur takes stock of public grievances

UDHAMPUR, June 17: District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib today held one-to-one public hearing during a series of grievances redressal camps held on the second day of tour to far flung areas of Basantgarh, Dudu and Latti areas.
At Basantgarh, BDC Chairman, Kewal Singh Parihar, DDC member, Ashri Devi, Sarpanches, Panches and general public of the adjoining Panchayats put forth their demands and problems.
They demanded Black topping/upgradation of Ramnagar- Basantgarh road, construction of approach road to PHC, upgradation of Primary Health Centre at Basantgarh to CHC, release of pending payment of Saubhagya scheme, completion of Khaned bridge, filling up of vacant posts in Education Department, Opening of Anganwadi Centre, establishment of wooden depot at Basantgarh, clearance of liabilities of MGNREGA etc. They also complained about the delay in the construction work of the Lodra link road.
Responding to the demands, the DDC assured the public that all their genuine issues would be addressed in a time bound manner. She directed the concerned officers to resolve the issues of public in their competence and submit the detailed report of pending issues so that the same can be projected to higher authorities for consideration.
At Block Dudu, BDC Chairman, Darshan Kumar Thakur; DDC Councillor, Pinky Devi and PRIs apprised the DDC about their grievances and sought early redress of the same.
They demanded macadamization/upgrading of Mantalai -Shiv Gali road, better mobile service, adequate staff in education and health departments, inclusion of the area in tourism map, road connectivity and other related issues of public importance.
En-route, the DDC conducted a public hearing at Government Higher Secondary School Latti where BDC Chairman, DDC Councillor and PRIs besides a large number of general public of adjoining Panchayats attended the programme and put forth their issues and demands.
They demanded opening of a Sub Centre at Panchayat Latti-B, imparting skill enhancement training to women in cutting & tailoring, handicraft, pickle making to enable them to become self-reliant. Responding to the demand of skill development training for women, the DDC asked the horticulture department to hold a training session in food processing.
The people also demanded for the opening of KV school and the DDC directed SDM to liaison with DC KV and prepare a feasibility report.
