LEH, Sept 17: Deputy Commissioner Leh, Simrandeep Singh today set a timeline of one month for all the district officers to prepare report of damages caused due to recent incessant rains.
The timeline was conveyed to the officers during a meeting convened in connection with the assessment of damages and losses caused in Leh district, particularly in the Nubra, Khaltsi and Kharu Sub Divisions.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner said, “though it was not much reported but there have been damages/losses reported from various parts of Leh district as well”, adding “various Councillors and Sarpanchs have been meeting the district administration in connection with the losses reported in their respective areas”.
He was of the opinion that instead of addressing the issues on individual basis, it would be worthwhile to prepare a holistic assessment report of the entire district, which could be then considered for a final decision/disposal.
He set a timeline of one month (up to October 15) for all the officers to prepare damage report in respect of their jurisdictions. A flood damage assessment control room has been set up in Deputy Commissioner Office, which will be attended by the Prime Minister’s Rural Development Fellows (PMRDFs) assigned to Leh district (Mr Saumya and Mr Shitij) from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm every day. All officers were directed to submit their reports to this control room through special messengers.
The officers were directed to make a calendar of Gram Sabhas which shall be held in all villages under advance intimation to the villagers, Numberdars, Sarpanchs and Councillors. They were further directed to obtain a certificate from all Numberdars, Sarpanchs and Councillors of their jurisdiction, expressing their satisfaction regarding the damage report prepared in their respective jurisdictions.
The meeting was attended by Superintending Engineer PWD, Superintending Engineer, PMGSY, Assistant Commissioner (Rev), Sub Divional Magistrates of Nubra, Nyoma, Khaltsi and Durbuk, all Tehsildars, Executive Engineers of R&B, PHE, I&FC, PDD, PMGSY and Mechanical.
