DC reviews solid waste management in Samba

Samba, Aug 19: In order to review the solid waste management in Samba district, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Rohit Khajuria, chaired a meeting of District Level Special Task Force Committee here today.
Deputy Commissioner, while reviewing the status of awareness created by Executive Officers of Municipal Committees of Samba, Ramgarh, Bari-Brahmana and Vijaypur as well as by District Level Services Authority and schools, directed all to involve social and religious organizations in creating awareness on solid waste management as per the instructions of National Green tribunal (NGT). “Segregation of waste decompositions into organic and inorganic waste is necessary in order to have a sustainable growth”, he added.
DC directed the concerned Executive officers of municipalities to make earnest efforts regarding proper segregation, processing, and treatment and disposing of the waste material. He also stressed upon proper disposal of municipal waste at the designated land fill site by adopting scientific methods of disposing bio-degradable and non-biodegradable waste. He further directed to involve rag-pickers for segregation of the waste. He laid emphasis on need to start door-door lifting of household garbage in a segregated manner.
Deputy Commissioner directed Executive Officers of MC’s and Police to regularly check markets regarding use of banned polythene bags and impose penalties on the offenders as laid under rules.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Arvind Kotwal, Executive Officers of Municipality of Samba besides Chief Education Officer and other officials were present in the meeting.
