ANANTNAG, Aug 19: Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Khalid Jahangir today visited Sheikhpora, Chittergul, Chairpora, Methmooh, Oh Paysen, Ranipora and Kard villages in the district to access the loss of property caused due to cloudburst recently.
The DDC was accompanied by ADCs Altaf Ahmad Khan, and Gulzar Ahmad Bhat, ACD Anantnag Mohammad Aslam, Exen Flood Control, AEEs of PHE, R&B, PDD, DEPO and other concerned.
Reportedly two residential houses, hundreds of fruit, walnut and other trees, roads, drinking water pipes, electric network, culverts and bridges were damaged by cloudburst in some of the villages in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Engineers of PHE & R&B for immediate restoration of drinking water, road connectivity by laying of new water pipes, construction of damaged culverts and bridges which were damaged by the cloudburst.
During the visit, locals, Awqaf Committee and Civil Society members met the Deputy Commissioner and put forth their demands relating to power supply, drinking water, availability of ration etc.
Meanwhile, various youth clubs also met the DC and sought his intervention for construction of playfields at Chittergul, Methmooh, Oh Paysen and Sheikhpora.
