3 Panels set up for UT related issues

JAMMU, Aug 19: With only two and half months have left for formal establishment of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh, the Government has set into motion a process to work out different modalities by constituting three high-level committees.
These committees will devise modalities for functioning of proposed Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and deal with financial matters and staff related issues in both the proposed Union Territories.
As per the order issued by the General Administration Department, a committee headed by Advisor (S) to Governor will devise the modalities for functioning of proposed UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
Financial Commissioners of Finance, Health and Medical Education, Financial Commissioner with Governor, Principal Secretaries of Home, Planning and Development Departments, Commissioner Secretaries of Public Works and Ladakh Affairs Departments, Secretaries of General Administration, Higher Education, Revenue and Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Departments are the members of the committee.
The committee will recommend steps to be taken for transition from State to proposed Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir by various departments and conduct of Government business.
Another committee headed by Financial Commissioner, Finance Department and comprised of Principal Secretary Home Department, Commissioner Secretary Power Development Department, Secretary General Administration Department and Secretary Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Department will make recommendations vis-a-vis realization and distribution of funds and other related issues concerning the proposed UT of J&K and UT of Ladakh under both Revenue and Capex components.
The third committee headed by Principal Secretary Home Department and comprised of Administrative Secretaries of Ladakh Affairs, General Administration, Culture, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Departments and a representative of Finance Department will suggest measures to be taken for providing staff to the proposed UT of Ladakh and any other issue relating to staff of proposed UT of J&K.
