REASI, Jan 19: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Charandeep Singh today conducted an extensive tour of Milk village Jerri where he inspected dairy units established by local farmers including women folk of the village.
After being declared as Milk village, a total of 57 units have been sanctioned under Integrated Dairy Development Scheme (IDDS) for the Village. Under the Integrated Dairy Development Scheme, Dairy Units of five animals with 50% subsidy is provided to the beneficiary.
The Scheme also has a provision for milking machine, bulk milk cooling unit at 50 %subsidy (Max Rs 5 Lakh), Paneer making machine, khoya making, dehi, making, cream separator, ice cream making machine, butter and ghee making machine (max subsidy Rs 3. 5 lakh) Milk Van (Max subsidy Rs 2 Lakh), Milk ATM subsidy of Rs 5 lakhs etc.
The officers of animal husbandry were instructed by DDC to visit the bank branches and personally pursue the cases submitted for approval for setting up dairy units in the village and also bring into his notice, if there was any delay by the bankers.
During the visit of the village, the DDC met with farmers and also inquired about income status and turnover of their dairy units. He asked them to encourage fellow farmers for opening more such units for handsome earning as this will also resolve the issue of unemployment.
The DDC also educated the farmers about the hazards of pesticide and fertilizers and emphasized for promotion of organic farming for fodder and feed of livestock.
During interaction with PRI members, detailed deliberations were also held on strengthening cooperatives and self-help groups in the rural areas besides promoting horticulture, agriculture, animal and sheep husbandry for redoubling the income of farmers.
En-route, the DDC also met with public deputations who raised issues of power supply, drinking water and execution of work under different sectors. For all such issues, instructions were given to the concerned officers.
The DDC was accompanied by ACD Dr. Anirudh Rai, BDO Pouni Sumit Suri and other officers of line departments and Animal and sheep husbandry department.
