LEH, Feb 18: Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Simrandeep Singh alongwith district officers of 14 departments, involved in Panchayat functioning, convened a meeting with 93 Sarpanchs of Leh district to take stock of their issues related to devolution of powers to PRIs.
The ‘All Leh Panchayat Coordination Committee’ apprised the the DC about the problems faced by the Sarpanchs in respect of the 14 departments. They said that PRIs are not being consulted by these departments while formulating plans.
The Deputy Commissioner constituted a committee to look into the matter highlighted by the Sarpanchs so that the development do not suffer due to such issues.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner discussed various issues with the Sarpanchs like new administrative units, BADP and related matters.
Earlier, at the beginning of the meeting, on behalf of all the Sarpanchs and Panchs of Leh district, Chairmen, Panchayat Coordination Committee, (PCC) Leh Tashi Tsephel congratulated DC, Leh with traditional Khataks for receiving the Election Commission of India award for ‘Best Electoral Practices’ from President of India on the eve of National Voters Day.
