DC discusses Christmas arrangements

JAMMU, Dec 10: To discuss the arrangements made by the civil administration for smooth celebration of Christmas on December 25, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Ajeet Kumar Sahu convened a meeting with senior officers and representatives of Christian Community and Joint Churches Association, here today.
ADC Kalyan Singh Parihar, besides officers of police and district administration attended the meeting.
Calling for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene environ in and around the churches and Christian localities, the Deputy Commissioner stressed on synergy among line departments for ensuring adequate arrangements for the smooth and colourful celebration of festival. The JMC authorities were asked to repair street lights and carry out other repair works well in time so that the devotees do not face any inconvenience during evening hours.
The meeting was informed that main procession would be organized by Joint Churches Association Jammu on December 22 at 2 pm which will start from Shahidi Chowk and after passing through from main bazaars of old city will culminate at the starting point.
The DC gave instructions to Police and Traffic Department to make foolproof arrangements of security and vehicular traffic movement for peaceful conduct of procession. He directed the R&B and PHE authorities for ensuring early repair of damaged roads and supply of adequate drinking water with provision for additional water tanks for the convenience of the devotees. He also instructed Power Development Department for ensuing proper lighting arrangements in addition to un-interrupted power supply at the main Churches on the festive day.
Mr. Sahu asked the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) authorities to keep check on the rates, quality and availability of essential commodities to the people. He also directed the Health Department to keep available one ambulance along with procession with mobile medical team, besides sufficient number of ambulances to cater other prominent churches in the Jammu city. Fire Services was asked for stationing fire tenders at the main venues to avoid any misshaping.
