DC acts tough against illegal mining

SAMBA, Apr 1: Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Anuradha Gupta, following the complaints against mining contractors today visited the challan (Form-A) receipt centre at Nud Samba along with Senior Superintendent of Police and directed the concerned agency to immediately start the challan receipt counter which was non functional from last 24 hours.
She issued on spot orders that the receipt counter issuing Form-A to locals will work on the scheduled timings i.e 6am to 6pm only and warned that any one floating norms will be taken to task.
DC Samba passed directions to ensure no overcharging or unscrupulous activities are carried out in district. Earlier, DC constituted a team of Revenue officer and police personnel to increase the vigil against the illegal mining activities. It was informed that 57 dumper have been seized with Rs 8,36,000 amount challaned in the last month alone.
Deputy Commissioner, Samba ordered that Mining Department will display all the Government approved rates on hoardings near collection centre for smooth conduct of mining activity. She further warned that any illegitimate mining activity in district Samba will not go unnoticed and action as warrant will also be taken including recommendation for cancellation of mining contract.
