JAMMU, Dec 17: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking directions to State to provide proper infrastructure and security in the court complex at Janipur, Division Bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice M M Kumar and Justice Hasnain Massodi today took serious note of the status report submitted by the IGP Security.
After going through the status report filed by the IGP security in compliance to the earlier directions, the DB observed, “it appears that IGP security has no idea about ground realities otherwise he would not have written that proper access control is in place along with electronic gadgetry in the District Court Complex”.
“There are hardly any metal detector functioning in the District Court Complex. Moreover, no CCTV cameras are in place and users of the complex are exposed to any risk proposition at the hands of anti-national elements”, the DB observed and directed the IGP Jammu Zone to remain present when the High Powered Committee headed by Registrar General of the High Court visits the complex to assess the necessity of providing the facilities for ensuring the security of the users of the complex.
The DB also directed the JMC to file status report before next date of hearing about the steps taken to remove the bushes around the court complex. Earlier, Advocate S S Nanda appearing for the JMC submitted that necessary staff has been deployed to clear the bushes and shrubs.
