DB takes note of hospitals’ condition

JAMMU, Sept 20: Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Virender Singh and Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar today took serious note of unhygienic condition in the Government hospitals.
In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Viklang Chhatra Trust through Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi it has been brought to the notice of Court that in Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu and its Associated Hospitals namely SMGS, CD and Psychiatric, there are complete unhygienic conditions.
Taking serious note of this, the DB directed Medical Superintendent of all the hospitals to file their individual affidavits giving details of what action has already been taken in this regard and what is exact position as on date.
Deputy AG Neeru Goswami appearing for the Medical Department sought one week’s time for doing the needful and the Division Bench granted the same.
With regard to Attendants’ Sarai, AAG HA Siddqui appearing for the respondent stated that since an amount of Rs 25 lakh has already been received by Red-Cross Society Jammu, he would place on record the complete road map prepared by the Red-Cross Society with regard to maintenance and management of the Attendants’ Sarai.
AAG further submitted that Red Cross Society would also review tariff to be paid by the attendants to see if the same can be slashed down in order to have more influx of the attendants. Upon this, Division Bench directed Registry to list the PIL next week.
