JAMMU, Oct 10: Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir and Justice J P Singh today stayed the execution of detention of Virender Gupta alias Kaka Chichdi, a close associate of Ravinder Gupta alias Gola Shah.
After hearing Advocate Javed Iqbal with Advocate Vishal Sharma appearing for the appellant and Senior AAG Gagan Basotra, the DB permitted the appellant to file the appeal without filling certified copy of impugned judgment. During the course of arguments, Adv Javed Iqbal made a statement that he has obtained certified copy of the impugned judgment and the Division Bench gave him the liberty to file the same before the Registry.
Looking into urgency involved in the matter, the Division Bench took-up the main appeal on board and issued notice in the appeal which was accepted by Senior AAG on behalf of the official respondents. Division Bench also permitted dasti service in the matter.
After considering the arguments of Advocate Javed Iqbal, Division Bench stayed the operation of execution of detention of the appellant Virender Gupta, who was to be detained under J&K PSA.
