DB directs JDA to file ATR within 4 weeks

PIL against illegal encroachments in old city

JAMMU, Mar 7: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) highlighting illegal encroachments by the shopkeepers and other unknown persons in the JDA Shopping Complex near City Chowk, here and also in the adjoining areas, Division Bench of the State High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Tashi Rabstan today directed the JDA to file action taken report within four weeks.
During the course of hearing, Advocate Sachin Gupta appearing for the JMC submitted that that Corporation is in the process of placing the status report with regard to the action taken against the persons including the shopkeepers who have encroached upon the public land.
After hearing Advocate Ajay Sharma for the PIL, DB also directed JMC to file status report on this aspect as well as the action taken report within four weeks from today. DB further directed respondents to ensure that the policy dated 1st of June, 2017, so far as the street vendors are concerned, is strictly abided by.
