DB directives to PCB on air pollution

JAMMU, Apr 10: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) highlighting poor working of State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed and Justice Alok Aradhe today directed the PCB to file an affidavit within one week clearly indicating air pollution level in Jammu measured at different locations.
The PCB has further been directed to specifically indicate the level of PM10 and PM2.5 as also other pollutants. “The affidavit shall also indicate the number of pollution control centers in Jammu. Moreover, samples of the water at different locations from River Tawi shall be taken and result indicated”, the DB directed.
The petitioner Advocate Rajinder Singh Jamwal appeared in person while as Deputy AG A H Bhat appeared for the Pollution Control Board.
