DB accepts unconditional apology of SSP

JAMMU, May 20: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by two young advocates challenging registration of FIR against judicial officer without following the procedure prescribed by the Supreme Court, Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur today accepted unconditional apology of SSP Kulgam.
When the matter was taken-up for hearing, Division Bench observed, “in compliance to the earlier order, Mumtaz Ahmad, SSP Kulgam is present in person and states that he has already filed affidavit on 18.02.2014 wherein he tendered unconditional and unqualified apology”.
“It has been stated in the affidavit that the averments made in the one of the para of letter dated 10.01.2014 was incorporated on an erroneous understanding of law. SSP, in repentant mood, submits that he had issued letter with all bonafides and under the impression that he is complying with the directions of the  Apex Court while issuing guidelines and in that process, due to certain misunderstanding of law, was incorporated therein. He submits that he will be highly careful in future”, the DB further observed.
With these observations, the DB accepted the unconditional apology tendered by the SSP, Kulgam and said, “no further proceedings are required against him”.
