Date for filing objections for summary revision of electoral rolls extended

JAMMU, Mar 25: According to the office of Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, the date for filing of claims and objections for summary revision of Municipal Electoral Rolls (MERs) of Municipal Corporations/ Municipal Councils/Municipal Committees has been extended upto one week i.e. 1st April, 2013.
The date has been extended in view of the representations received from public and political parties and also the prevailing circumstances in the Valley since last 10-15 days.
As per revision schedule, the date for disposal of claims and objections will be from 02-04-2013 (Tuesday) to 08-04-2013 (Monday), preparation and printing of supplements of additions, deletions and corrections will be done from 09-04-2013 (Tuesday) to 15-04-2013 (Monday) while the date for final publication of electoral rolls will be 17-04-2013 (Wednesday).
The Electoral Registration Officers/Assistant Electoral Registration Officers who have been designated as EROs for preparation of Municipal Photo Electoral Rolls, 2013, have been directed to continue the display of Draft Municipal Photo Electoral Rolls at their respective offices upto Ist April, 2013 and they will also supply requisite forms free of cost to the eligible persons and will receive the applications under proper receipt up to 01-04-2013.
These forms can also be Photostat/handwritten or can be privately printed. However, in case of privately printed forms, it should be ensured that no name/logo/symbol of any political party/association appears in the forms, and they should conform to the format laid down in the statutory form. The bulk forms for inclusion, deletion or correction from any political party or their representatives, will not be entertained/accepted by the EROs but the forms in respect of one family can only be entertained/accepted as per norms.
