JAMMU, Jan 28: Ch Zulfkar Ali and Ghulam Mohd. Saroori, Members of the Legislative Assembly from Darhal and Inderwal Assembly constituencies, respectively, called on Governor N N Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.
The MLAs apprised the Governor about various problems impeding the implementation of certain development projects in their respective constituencies and the urgent requirement of additional funds for carrying out further developmental activities being carried out in their areas.
Ch Zulfkar presented 11 point memorandum for overall development of his constituency. He said that people of Budhal-Darhal suffered a lot due to September 2014 floods but meager relief was provided and not even single family has still been rehabilitated.
He sought Governor’s help in announcement of special package for flood victims of Darhal Budhal and also a policy for compensation to the victims. He also highlighted the problem of ration shortage and said, “concerned department is supplying ration to Budhal and Darhal according to 2001 census whereas population has increased many folds during all these years”.
He also sought funds for developmental works like Ans Irrigation Project and 54 schemes of water supply. He demanded starting of Phase-II of RGGVY scheme and highlighted the issues of shortage of teachers, masters and lecturers in the schools of Darhal and Budhal.
Expressing concern over slow pace of work by BRO on Rajouri-Budhal Road, he requested the Governor to issue instructions for gearing up of work. Zulfikar also demanded 33 KVA grid at Kotranka and transferring of Kotranka Khawas Road to BRO or PMGSY.
Parvez Jamal, who contested recent Assembly elections from Sonawar Constituency, also called on Mr Vohra and highlighted concerns about an ongoing developmental activity in Sonawar.
Meanwhile, G R Sufi, State Chief Information Commissioner and Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Financial Commissioner, Industries and Commerce had meetings with Mr Vohra.
Mr Sufi apprised the Governor about initiatives taken by the Commission since its establishment for enabling the implementation of the Right To Information (RTI) Act and the continuing efforts being made to enhance awareness of the masses regarding their right to seek relevant information from all public offices under the RTI Act.
The Governor discussed with Mr Sufi the measures which need to be taken to speed up the process of transparency in the governance system.
Mr Ganai briefed the Governor about issues relating to industrial promotion, the obtaining entrepreneurial environment and the status of cottage and village industries, handicrafts and handloom sector in the State.
The Governor stressed the importance of every possible effort being made to secure balanced growth of the State through sustainable utilization of all available natural resources in the State. He urged the Financial Commissioner to personally review and very early finalise all the measures which need to be taken to implement the “Make in India Campaign” and “Ease of Doing Business”. He also urged Mr Ganai to ensure early finalization of the Trade Policy and Industrial Policy of the State.
