JAMMU, May 22: Demanding implementation of GDS Committee recommendations, a large number of Dak Sevaks launched indefinite strike.
A large number of Dak Sevaks assembled at Post Office near Dogra Chowk under the banner of All India Gramin Dak Sevaks Union (AIGDSU) and National Union of Gramin Dak Sevak (NUGDS) and held protest. They raised slogans demanding implementation of GDS Committee recommendations, which has been prepared by all concerned sections in the Department of Posts.
While addressing the gathering, the leaders of the Union said that due to complete negligence of the bureaucrats of the Department of Posts, there is inordinate delay in the implementation of the GDS Committee recommendations.
“We have restored to various agitational programmes including indefinite strike for implementing GDS Committee recommendations. We have also brought the matter into the notice of Finance Minister and Prime Minister requesting their interference for early implementation of the GDS Committee recommendations, but all went in vain”, they stated.
They said that all the GDS across the country are in unrest due to inordinate delay in the implementation of the GDS Committee recommendation and this delay has forced them to launch indefinite strike.
